DescriptionThe Meridian is the house pattern: a rectangular gusseted briefcase skived and saddle-stitched by hand, seven stitches to the inch, in 1.8 mm full-grain hide that darkens rather than wears. Solid brass twist locks are weighed, not chosen - 24 grams each, so the flap closes with a deliberate, quiet click. Inside, a herringbone cotton lining holds a suspended 14-inch laptop sleeve and two document panels.

Seven to the inch, and every one load-bearing.

Machine lockstitch fails when one thread breaks; a hand saddle-stitch does not. At seven stitches to the inch with waxed linen, the Meridian's seams carry load along their whole length and outlive the hide's first decade of patina. It is slower to make. That is the point.
